The classic: over the High Atlas to the Erg Chebbi dunes — camel trek at sunset, a night in a desert camp, and the long drive home.

At a glance
- Duration: 3 days / 2 nights
- Destinations: Marrakech → High Atlas → Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
- Pickup: Marrakech
- Group: Private — shaped around your group
- Often best: October–April, when desert days are warm and nights are crisp
The experience
This is the trip half of Morocco’s visitors take, and there’s a reason. The Atlas crossing alone is worth it — the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the kasbahs, the valleys changing color as you descend.
Then the dunes. Erg Chebbi rises out of nowhere, and the camel trek in at sunset is exactly as cinematic as it sounds. Dinner, drums if the camp does them, and a sky full of stars.
Day three is the long drive home. You’ll be tired and you’ll be glad you went.

Frequently asked questions
How does this trip work?
Send an inquiry with your dates and group size. We connect you with an appropriate verified local specialist, who confirms the 3-day Marrakech–Merzouga routing and sends a free written itemized quote before anything is arranged.
How do I book?
Send an inquiry and receive a free written itemized quote. Nothing is booked or charged until you approve it.
When do I pay?
Only after you approve your written quote, on the terms it lists. No payment before your explicit approval.
What is included?
Your written quote lists exactly what’s included — transport, stays, meals, camel trek or alternative, desert camp night — line by line. Anything not listed is not included.
Is three days enough for Merzouga?
Yes — it’s the classic minimum: Atlas crossing, desert night among the Erg Chebbi dunes, and return. Expect two long driving days; the middle desert day is the reward.
What’s the fitness level needed?
Moderate. You’ll walk on sand dunes and may climb for sunset views, but nothing technical. Share any mobility concerns in your inquiry for honest advice.
What should I pack?
Layers for cold nights, sun protection, closed shoes, and a small overnight bag — large luggage typically stays in the vehicle. Your specialist can share a checklist with your quote.
Can I customize it?
Yes — extend the desert stay, add stops, or adjust the return route. Your specialist revises the plan and sends an updated written quote.
Do you operate the tour yourselves?
No. Souk & Sand is a planning studio: we help travelers plan Morocco trips and connect them with appropriate verified local specialists, and we’re building that network now.
